When 'insulting' religion is worse than violent threats
YOURSAY 'Threat to burn her is secondary... she has after all 'insulted religion'.'
BFM, Aisyah to be probed for insulting religion
Pemerhati:
In the
Malaysiakini
report on March 20, PKR leader Latheefa Koya
made a scathing attack
on PAS when she said, "The so-called hudud of PAS as made public in the Syariah Criminal Code amendments is certainly not found in the Quran...
“Therefore, it ought to be rejected outright. It is their own creation, and it is creating confusion and mischief in God's name."
She also stated the Quran does not prescribe punishment for apostasy nor makes any mention of stoning and that the Quran also differed with PAS' enactment on two other counts - stipulation for amputation, and the witness requirements in rape and adultery (zina) cases.
This means PAS is enacting a cruel, medieval and barbaric law and is curbing any dissent from the Malays by saying that it is God’s law.
The fact that hardly any Malays and Muslims have come out to openly criticise PAS for its barbaric hudud law suggests that PAS has successfully frightened and fooled the Malays and the inspector-general of police (IGP) by falsely claiming that hudud is God’s law.
Muhibbah: The threat of burning BFM ’s Aisyah Tajuddin is secondary but more importantly she has 'insulted religion', according to the IGP.
This is not the first case where he puts 'religion' ahead of justice. He has the mind of a Taliban but dressed up as a cop.
The route to Talibanising Malaysia is well on the way unless he is sacked for failing to carry out his duty in line with the Federal Constitution.
Basically: Perhaps we the rakyat should table a private member’s bill for hudud to be implemented nationwide.
I certainly don't mind. After all, if Umno thinks it's necessary and a good idea, then why limit it to Kelantan? All states should have hudud law.
Are they saying Muslims outside Kelantan don't deserve the best? Let's see if anyone from MCA and Gerakan will be probed for insulting religion.
Anonymous_1419570792: Why get riled over this hudud thingy? It's a joke at best, or a political maneuver at worst. It has nothing to do with divinity, morality or religiosity, etc.
How could it be? The political party that's championing this hudud thingy has a secretary-general who was allegedly caught on video committing ‘zina’. Is it an early April Fool’s joke?
Retnam: Wow, now criticising Kelantan PAS government is equivalent to insulting religion?
Penang activists defend Aisyah, lodge report
Commentable: There is a worrying trend that is presently set. It underscores Malaysia as not only a patriarchal nation but also one that has a significant narrow-minded Muslim community who are prepared to intimidate for the slightest reason.
It culminated a culture that targets women as easy victims. Today we see Aisyah Tajuddin as the latest victim but let's not forget other victims like Borders bookstore branch manager Nik Raina Nik Abdul Aziz and DAP politician Dyana Sofya Mohd Daud, to name a few.
This kind of bullying culture has to stop. It demeans the female gender to hurl threats of rape or any form of sexual violation.
I praise and fully support the move by social activists and NGOs whose objective is to stand up in solidarity with any female victim who is the target of such bullies.
The police force, starting with the IGP, should have a total overhaul of its archaic mindset and put some thought in giving the female gender equal treatment and respect.
Hplooi: The pro-hudud Islamic state-ideologues are now targeting any and all debate on hudud as "against Islam". The immediate targets are non-Muslims with the excuse of "you are not qualified to debate on hudud".
When the non-Muslims are effectively silenced, they go after Muslims with alternative views. As in Pakistan, threats of violence are first thrown at all dissenting views.
I predict that next they will resort to actual violence. It will not be long when politics will descend into a culture of assassination. No meaningful dialogue will be allowed.
The neo-Salafists (or Wahhabists) have already gained a beachhead in so-called moderate Malaysia.
Anonymous #559621516: I am reminded of a Form 5 boy who apparently clicked "like" on Israel and this was publicised by his teacher. Other teachers condemned him and put him in fear of his life and when he went to make a police report, it was the boy who was investigated.
Eventually, I think they did not charge him but imagine the terror and pressure a boy would have faced with a police investigation hanging over him. How do you study under those circumstances?
I recently heard that by the grace of God, he passed SPM with decent results. This trauma that he suffered would nevertheless be a nightmare that he would never forget.
I am saddened over the state that our country has come to, where power is used not to protect the helpless but intimidate them.
Anonymous$&@?: If the leader of the Malaysian rakyat doesn't issue a statement to condemn such malicious threats that goes against democratic principles, it will only encourage the culprits to carry out their threats.
Does the spineless leader wants to encourage the locals to behave and worse still become IS militants?
