Describing DAP's move to divorce PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang as nothing more than political drama, Gerakan Youth has urged Lim Kit Siang and Lim Guan Eng to resign.

Its chief Tan Keng Liang said the father and son team should be accountable and quit for being unable to halt the PAS-led Kelantan government from wanting to implement hudud laws in the state.

"They should let other leaders who are more willing to uphold the principles carried by the late Karpal Singh to lead DAP.

"Karpal was consistent in his stand on hudud laws and also said ‘over my dead body’ when questioned on the matter," he added in a statement.

Tan was responding to DAP's move to sever ties with the PAS president, citing inability to work with someone who is "dishonest".

According to the Gerakan Youth chief, the reality is that DAP and PAS would still continue to work together within Pakatan Rakyat.

"To date, DAP had not taken any step to remove PAS or Hadi from Pakatan. The severance of ties by DAP with Hadi is meaningless and merely a political drama.

"For example, DAP is still working together with PAS in Selangor’s Pakatan government," he added.

Kit Siang's 'new coalition' idea panned

Notwithstanding such rhetoric from DAP, Tan said the PAS-led Kelantan government would still proceed with their plans to implement hudud laws in the state.

"DAP current leadership should stop all their political drama. Time to be sincere in solving issues," he added.

Meanwhile, Gerakan deputy president Dr Cheah Soon Hai ( right )criticised Kit Siang over the latter’s call to form a coalition government to "save Malaysia".

He said the suggestion was "funny and ridiculous" as well as an obvious attempt at absolving DAP's complicity in the hudud bill issue.

He insisted that DAP should take full responsibility for PAS' behavior as DAP had assured that PAS would never implement hudud.

 

"Kit Siang must stop misleading, manipulating and insulting the wisdom of the rakyat, and attempting to push away their responsibility to BN," he said.
