Federal Territories PAS today became the first state in the party to freeze relations with DAP following the latter's scathing attacks against PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang.

This was after DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng this morning announced that DAP is cutting ties with "dishonest" Hadi but retaining relations with PAS.

Its commissioner Mohamad Noor Mohamad declared the boycott in a protest memorandum to DAP's Bukit Bendera MP Zairil Khir Johari in the Parliament lobby today, after Zairil accused Hadi of treachery.

"From this moment onwards, Federal Territories PAS will not cooperate with Federal Territories DAP and Labuan DAP because DAP is too insolent and has no loyalty for friends in Pakatan Rakyat," he said.

Mohamad said Zairil's claim that Hadi had caused seven multi-corner fights in the general election as "absolutely untrue and malicious".

"We demand that Zairil retracts his statement and apologise in the next 48 hours. If not, we will proceed with legal action," he said.

Focusing on the Labuan seat, he said it was PKR which insisted on contesting the seat even though PAS had previously contested the constituency.

He also included an appointment letter dated April 11, 2013 from PAS secretary-general Mustafa Ali to the Labuan PAS candidate to allow him to use the PAS logo for the polls.

"It is PKR through its de facto leader and deputy president who snatched the Labuan parliamentary constituency by putting a candidate there," he said.

Zairil had last weekend said Pakatan has no future with Hadi leading PAS because Hadi has betrayed Pakatan partners during the elections, and now by submitting a private member's bill to Parliament on hudud without consulting PKR and DAP.

Zairil ( right ), who is one of DAP's two Muslim MPs, also yesterday explained that he would not support the bill which is meant to change the federal constitution to allow the Kelantan Syariah Code II (Amendment 2015) 1993 to be implemented.

He said the code, which includes hudud, is "PAS' hudud" and not Allah's law given that it can be amended at the state government's will.

He added that the hudud issue is a political game and not religious.

He also argued that the objectives of syariah have not been met to necessitate the Islamic penal code.

"Even the leader of the International Union for Muslim Scholars (IUMS) Yusuf al-Qaradawi noted that only 10 verses in the Quran touches on the hudud.

"So why do we emphasise on these verses but neglect the other more than 6,000 verses?" he asked.

"Further, Islamic law must fulfill the objectives of Islamic teachings. Punishments must be a means to a larger goal that is to uphold justice," he added.
