PAS Vice-President Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man wants the DAP senior leadership to withdraw their “wild allegations” against PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang.

Describing the allegations against Hadi as extreme and rude, Tuan Ibrahim ( below ) said DAP had breached the boundaries of Malaysian culture and etiquette in attacking the PAS president.

“PAS urges DAP to retract all the wild allegations made. There is no purpose of Pakatan Rakyat cooperation if DAP remains arrogant and is not willing to withdraw the extremely wild allegations against Hadi,” he said in a statement today.

Yesterday, DAP declared that it would be  cutting off all ties with Hadi but will  maintain ties with with PAS. DAP secretary-general, Lim Guan Eng said Hadi should leave Pakatan if he is adamant in pursuing his private member’s bill for hudud to be implemented in Kelantan.

In a separate statement also today, PAS Ulama wing acting chief, Mahfodz Mohamed accused DAP of trying to “inject poison” to create a split within PAS when it declared it would break ties with Hadi but not with PAS.

“DAP cannot separate Hadi as president from PAS as he is the leader of the party. His decision is a joint decision by the party in wanting to implement the hudud law with the Syariah Offences (II) Enactment (Kelantan) 1993 amendments.

He said DAP should not provide ammunition to Pakatan's enemies and they should respect the Islamist party's stand to allow hudud law implementation in Kelantan.

Don't dayream, DAP told

The DAP ‘should not be daydream’ about asking PAS to drop the hudud law implementation, he added.

“We have to continue with the concept of “agreeing to disagree” in Pakatan with regards to Islamic criminal law and the Dewan Ulama wholeheartedly supports Hadi as our party president,” said Mahfodz ( right ).

Relations between DAP and PAS have become increasingly frayed following PAS-ruled Kelantan’s decision to table amendments to the Kelantan Syariah Criminal Code Enactment 1993 to pave the way for the eventual implementation of hudud in Kelantan.

The amendments were tabled at the Kelantan state assembly on March 19 and unanimously  passed by the 44 assemblypersons present, including the 12 from Umno.

PAS will now seek to amend the Federal Constitution in Parliament in order to finally be able to put hudud into practice in Kelantan.

DAP - as well as BN component parties MCA and Gerakan - have said they will stringently oppose any move by PAS to implement hudud, either locally or nationally.

DAP has also said that PAS risked  cooperation within Pakatan if it continued to pursue the implementation of hudud.
