"Slaps his own face", "daydreaming", "closing his eyes and hoping others will not be able to see" and "burying his head in the sand like an ostrich".

The aforementioned analogies were employed by MCA vice-president Chew Mei Fun with regard to Lim Guan Eng over DAP's move to discontinue its relationship with PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang, but still maintain ties with the Islamic party.

"The whole central executive committee of DAP must be a mere rubber stamp when it concurred with Lim to arrive at such an absurd decision," she added in a statement.

Chew pointed out that Abdul Hadi, being the PAS president, represents and speaks for the party.

Furthermore, she added the hudud concept is accepted and supported by PAS in its totality.

"Lim is clearly daydreaming when he is banking on a split in PAS and wilfully hoping for the so-called 'Erdogan faction' to emerge triumphant in the soon-to-be held PAS election and continue working with DAP.

"The DAP secretary-general needs to be educated that PAS’ vision is to set up a theocratic state, no matter who helms the party and in whatever circumstances,” she added.

DAP too scared

Speculation has been rife that DAP’s move was aimed at sending a message to PAS grassroots ahead of the party polls that the time has come to reject Abdul Hadi.

However, observers claimed that the move could have backfired .

According to Chew ( left ), DAP does not have the courage to sever ties with PAS because that would derail its hope of capturing Putrajaya in the general election.

"It seems that its leaders have not repented for misleading the non-Muslim electorate into believing and voting for PAS in the previous general election," she said.

"From 'Umno deceived PAS' to 'let it pass first', Lim has uttered catchy and enlightening phrases. But no matter how good the rhetoric, he cannot cover up his and his party's wrongdoings.

"Until today, there has not been a single apology coming out from his mouth. Lim certainly owes the people a very big apology," she added.

DAP should leave Pakatan

Meanwhile, another MCA leader took a swipe at Lim’s father, Kit Siang, over the latter’s proposal for a coalition government to "save Malaysia", in the wake of the hudud controversy.

Chai Kim Sen ( right ), who is MCA's deputy organising secretary, described it as an attempt to divert attention and cause friction in BN.

"They said the setting up of a coalition government is to defend the spirit of the constitution, as if they are so great - what a joke. In fact, DAP is putting its interest above all. Self-gain is forever its agenda.

"If it is indeed true that DAP wants a new coalition to protect the constitution, then they should take the very first and the all-important step to leave Pakatan Rakyat immediately," he added.
