PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang has brushed off DAP's decision to sever ties with him.

Speaking in Marang today, Abdul Hadi described the move as an attempt by DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng to attack his leadership.

However, Abdul Hadi said that Lim was merely firing blanks in his direction.

Abdul Hadi also accused DAP of being party which champions only one race while calling an unnamed ally an "opportunist".

"Although we cooperate with others, but we are not opportunists and do not fight for one race only.

"DAP fights for one race only while another one of our friends is an opportunist. We are not. We are serious about this," said Abdul Hadi, according to Utusan Online .

'Soon, other states can have hudud'

Abdul Hadi also said that PAS has no qualms cutting ties with DAP and PKR, and that PAS does not need DAP to win non-Muslim support.

He added that once his Private Member's Bill is passed in Parliament and changes are brought to the Syariah Court (Criminal Jurisdiction) 1965, then Kelantan and other states will be able to implement hudud law.

On Monday, DAP announced that it was severing ties with Abdul Hadi because he had acted " dishonestly ".

Among others, DAP said that Abdul Hadi had breached a promise not to table a bill to amend the Kelantan Syariah Criminal Code (II) until it is discussed in future Pakatan meetings, said Lim.

In the past, the party had also shown minutes of Pakatan meetings to prove that Abdul Hadi had gone back on promises.

Several PAS leaders have attacked DAP over the move, but none has thus far addressed the latter's allegations of dishonesty.
