Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak’s delay in making a stand on the hudud bill lends credence to the argument that the issue is more political than one concerning religion and conscience.

A veteran Umno observer, with close ties to Dr Mahathir Mohamad, said unlike the former prime minister, Najib has never made his position clear on this matter.
