The statement by the Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry quashes speculation of a price hike.
RON95 will remain at RM1.95 per litre, RON97 at RM2.25 per litre and diesel at RM1.95 per litre,
RON97 will, however, be charged the six percent goods and services tax which comes into force tomorrow, Bernama reported.
Speculation was rife that consumers wil be hit with a double whammy of GST and higher fuel prices given a rise in crude oil prices.
Sin Chew Daily earlier reported that RON95, RON97 and diesel prices are set to go up 5 to 10 sen after crude oil price rebounded.
Crude oil prices surged from US$44 (RM 162.87) per barrel earlier in March to US$53 ( RM196.18) per barrel last week.
