Behold, a super-heavyweight fight in Umno

YOURSAY 'Hopefully the decision will be unanimous and not split.'

Gloves are off in Mahathir-Najib fight

BernieBaby: This is the title fight. Expect it to go many rounds. I am hoping Prime Minister Najib Razak (the defending champion) has enough ammo to sustain his fight against Dr Mahathir Mohamad (former champion).

Najib has six years in office, while Mahathir 22 years. Potentially Najib can bring up the most dirt on Dr M, so Najib has to keep jabbing and wait patiently for the upper cut to floor Dr M.

Both are super heavyweights and hopefully the decision will be unanimous and not split.

Kim Quek: I had commented earlier that Najib’s biggest mistake was to jail Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim, who is Mahathir’s most feared enemy.

Now, I would say Najib’s second biggest mistake is for him to announce that Anwar’s pardon application had been rejected (though, in truth, the Agong who is the only one with the power to grant or reject Anwar’s application, has not made known his decision, if at all he has decided).

It is no coincidence that Mahathir fired his cannon the day after Najib made his announcement on Anwar, seemingly convinced that his deadliest adversary, Anwar, has really been taken out of the political arena this time.

With the confluence of so many forces yearning to see Najib’s blood now, can the PM extricate himself from this self-created quagmire? Or will he continue to remain a blockhead who cannot differentiate between a vulture and a pelican?

Ginie: The present Umno chieftains will surely back Najib because Najib has given them enough sweets. Najib had also warned the chieftains that should he fall, he would drag all of them along with him.

So, the only way to bring down Najib is not through Umno, but through 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB), Good and Services Tax (GST), his weak leadership, his profligate spending and last but not least, the motiveless and ghastly murder of Altantuya Shaariibuu.

Of course, this will not be easy as Najib has the support of all the important government departments such as the Attorney-General's Chambers, Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, the police, the Election Commission, the judiciary as well as his cronies.

Najib will use his infamous silence to buy time. May God bless and save Malaysia.

Anonymous_1403851580: Nothing is worse in Malaysia's history than Project IC - what are 1MDB’s debts compared to Project IC - the selling of the country to foreigners for the sake of holding on to power?

Najib should put whoever is responsible for Project IC behind bars, if he wants to continue administrating this country in peace without unnecessary interference.

Fateh: The current PM knows how to 'kow tim' (take care of) all the 'ma chai' (underlings) with you know what, so he is expected to throw out some crumbs to appease those disgruntled leaders.

The ex-PM has not given up on his attack yet. Let's see how long the drama will go on, and let's hope the ordinary rakyat will triumph in the end.

Abasir: The writer says, "Only time will tell whether the Umno chieftains will remain solidly behind Najib."

And given the characters involved, that depends very much on from whom the moolah flows.

Malu Malu: Dr M should let his son fight the battle for himself.

As to asking where Najib's stepson Riza Aziz got his millions, can Mahathir answer for the wealth of his daughter, the one who is in NGOs and hardly has any business, but allegedly lives a lavish lifestyle? At least Riza is known to be close to businessman Jho Low.

How also is it possible for all of Mahathir's three sons to be multimillionaires despite having failed businesses like Dataprep, Tongkah, Southern waste management, American Eagle tankers and the dubious business of San Miguel, Petron, etc?

RR: The law of karma is at work now. Under Mahathir, Anwar was jailed and now under Najib, Anwar is jailed again. Now both the titans, Mahathir and Najib, are at each other's throats.

We will wait and see who will go down and be put in prison. The law of karma works within the framework of dharma (righteousness).

So politicians, please have some conscience and principles to be always righteous as god is watching and taking note of all our actions.

Hero325: In the traditional Chinese warfare, Najib represents water, TDM (Tun Dr Mahathir) is fire. Water is soft while fire is hard, but water will eventually prevail.

Anon1: Will we see Team Mahathir plus the opposition as next unity government? Don't be surprised.

Fair Play : Is this what the Rahman Prophecy all about - a battle to the finish from within and not from without?
