YOURSAY What is Malaysia’s GDP compared to the United States’?
Umno men defend Najib, say attacks too soon
Dont Just Talk: Sabah speaker Salleh Said Keruak is another bird-brain politician who talk through his nose.
He compared Malaysia’s newly purchased VVIP executive jet with that of US’ Air Force One presidential jet, which he said cost more than RM700,000 an hour to run. What is Malaysia’s GDP (gross domestic product) compared to the United States’?
Secondly, he compared Malaysia’s 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) to that of Singapore’s Temasek Holdings.
The problem Salleh fails to realise, or too stupid not to realise, is that Temasek is run by a group of professionals who practise good governance, transparency and accountability whereas in Malaysia, 1MDB is akin to monkeys being asked to handle bananas.
A case in point is Malaysia Airlines (MAS). Try comparing it to Singapore Airlines (SIA). For those politicians who make stupid statements/comment, you are just telling Malaysians how silly you are.
MCAidiot: "Salleh said attacks on 1MDB are premature given that it is not even five years old."
If you set up a company and the company is sinking in huge debts and can’t even settle them even if you were to sell the whole company, what are you going to do?
Anonymous_4196: 1MDB is not even five years old but it’s laden with mega debt and many questionable transactions. What's your point again, Salleh?
I'm Malaysian: Salleh is ill-informed. Singapore's sovereign fund is from government’s budget surpluses. Mostly the money is invested in US government bonds and dividend-yielding equities.
IMDB uses borrowed money and give it to the Arabs and Jho Low for dubious spending on allegedly fake investments.
Caripasal: Comparing 1MDB with Temasek? This guy must be nuts. In only five years, 1MDB has accumulated more than RM40 billion in debts, needing a government bailout just to repay the interests of these loans.
Have you heard of any default of debts owed by Temasek? Money has been allegedly siphoned out from 1MDB into personal account.
If this is Temasek, the culprit would have sentenced to 20 years’ jail. But in Malaysia, the whistleblower is facing the Seditious Act and the corrupt are enjoying the dirty money.
Justice Pao: Salleh is comparing apples and oranges. Temasek Holdings is totally different from 1MDB.
Temasek did not have debts of RM42 billion, did not have people like Jho Low and Riza Aziz as well as PetroSaudi, and did not have a government bailout of almost one billion ringgit.
Besides they had Lee Kuan Yew who will not tolerate corruption and cronyism. 1MDB has Najib, who spend half a billion ringgit to buy a new jet and Rosmah helping him to spend the rakyat's hard-earn money.
Bringon14: The reason that you cannot make a comparison with Temasek is that Temasek is a Singapore entity (hence clean, corruption-free, or at least, minimal), whereas 1MDB has all your fingers in it.
We know very well that in Malaysia the words 'corruption free' simply means that BN politicians can get away scot free.
The old man is right; we do not trust you. Not one iota. Not one bit.
Mushiro: Pulai MP Nur Jazlan Mohamed is beating around the bush. No one is saying that the support for Najib, especially among Umno division leaders and BN ministers who are on the gravy train, has eroded.
Mahathir only asked who ordered the killing of Altantuya Shaariibuu. This may imply that Najib knows who was involved or Najib himself may be involved in giving the orders. If Najib is involved, then he is not fit to be PM even with the support of BN.
So Nur Jazlan should not be confused between his claim that Najib still has the support of BN and Mahathir asking for investigations as to who ordered the killing of Altantuya.
Bystander: It looks like Nur Jazlan has jumped onto the bandwagon of apple polishers to ensure his own political survival in Umno. But waste time polishing a fast-rotting apple. It is futile, mate.
MfM: For the first time in a long time, former PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad actually has the support of the majority of the people. Say what you may about him, he is still the best PM we have had so far.
All bets are off now as Mahathir has raised the spectre of Altantuya which should be the last straw to break Najib.
Mahathir will protect convicted murderer Sirul Azhar Umar and ensure he implicates PM Najib Razak or his wife, Rosmah Mansor, in the murder.
Anon1: Race card can't be used so they turn to IS (Islamic State) instead. Really hilarious. And to compare our Perdana 1 with Air Force 1, that's another cracker.
