Deputy Works Minister Rosnah Abdul Rashid Shirlin ( right ) said the project worth RM1.44 billion, which began in July 2012, was expected to be completed by September this year.
“The government took note of the critical congestion level at certain locations during festive periods and school holidays.
“This project is one of the efforts to solve congestion problems caused by the multi-fold increase in the number of vehicles using the route at the same time,” she said during a question-and-answer session at the Dewan Rakyat in Kuala Lumpur today.
She said this wheen replying to Dr Azman Ismail (PKR-Kuala Kedah), who had asked the ministry to state the measures taken to overcome the problem of congestion on Plus highways during certain periods.
