Auckland commuters were lucky to not be seriously stuck in traffic this morning when a truck carrying glue spilled 100 litres of it on a busy street, a media report said.

The glue leaked at a major intersection in the suburb of Papakura around 7.30am local time, Fire service spokesperson Jarron Phillips told NZME.

One lane was closed and traffic diversions were in place.

Motorists were advised to expect delays while Fire Service and council pollution crews worked to mop up the glue.

Traffic was flowing normally again by mid-morning.
