The Tasik Kenyir free trade zone is expected to be fully operational in March next year, said state Tourism and Culture Committee chairman Mohd Jidin Shafee.
He said the free trade zone's construction works were running smoothly and was confident that 60 per cent of the project would be ready by month's end.
Mohd Jidin said about RM100 million was allocated for the project.
"Up to 55 per cent is already completed, we expect 95 per cent of the
project will be completed in October and fully operational by March next year," he told reporters after visiting the project site today.
Mohd Jidin said the project was delayed by the recent floods in Terengganu.
He was also confident that the project would be the state's latest
attraction for tourists and it would help to improve the locals' income.
