A package believed containing a grenade was found in the men's toilet of a petrol kiosk in Jalan Kulim, Bukit Mertajam, this evening.

Seberang Perai Tengah police chief ACP Rusli Mohd Noor said the black package was found at 4.30pm by a member of the public who used the toilet.

"Police conducted a preliminary investigation and believe it contains a grenade. We then called in the Bomb Disposal Unit.

"Until 9pm, the package is still in the toilet and the Bomb Disposal Unit is conducting further inspection," Rusli said tonight.

He said the petrol kiosk was closed to prevent any untoward incident and police would examine the CCTV recording to trace those who left the package.

"We will also summon the petrol kiosk operator and employees for questioning," Rusli added.
