But Najib, when we asked, you didn’t answer
YOURSAY ‘You’re spot on about social media. We cannot believe what we read.’
Don't believe all you read online, warns Najib
Anonymous_1429268279:
PM Najib Razak, you are to be blamed if the people believe reports in social media.
All this while, you are more interested in jet-setting around the world. You have been more dumb than dumb. You responded to all sorts of allegations with your elegant silence. You never take the trouble to rebut these allegations convincingly. At best, you rubbish them.
For example, how did your stepson buy his multi-million dollar apartment in New York, or why the need to buy a new government jet.
When you don't care to explain those allegations, how can you fault the people if they choose to believe what is reported in the social media?
Telling the people not to believe these reports is not enough. Answer all the questions put forth by former PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad and you will emerge victorious.
Clearwater: I certainly don't believe all that I read in the online media. On the other hand, I find it hard to believe the mainstream media with their pronounced slant.
The trick is to find diverse sources of independent news. In this respect, the online media wins hands down in Malaysia.
Mosquitobrain: But Mr Najib, Mr Prime Minister, Mr Finance Minister, Mr 1MDB, the whole problem is that, when we talked, you didn’t listen. When we asked, you didn’t answer.
You and the mainstream media are treating us like fools. The 51 percent (who voted for the opposition) has no other choice, but to rely on online news for their information.
MinahBulat: Najib, you are spot on about social media. We cannot believe what we read.
But why don’t you answer the issues raised by Dr M on the 1MDB issue?
If what he says is untrue, then get the inspector-general of police (IGP) to arrest him and detain him under the Sedition Act.
The fact is he has been raving about this and his blog rating has increased by three times. That is worrying, is it not? So is Dr M spreading falsehoods?
Gunnerrun: I think it is even more dangerous and irresponsible for oneself to just rely on mainstream media, which is utterly controlled by the government and telling half-truths.
It is just a tool that shamelessly distorts information according to the owners' wishes, while it tries hard to influence the public, and control them so that ultimately everyone behaves and responds like robots dancing to their tunes.
Anonymous #19098644: The issue is the government has abused the mainstream media to such a drastic extent that they have lost all credibility.
The result is that the rakyat now turn to the online media to get news and information.
The Umno media have previously openly admitted that they indulged in spinning the truth. So they are indeed reaping what they sowed.
Shibboleth: With facts we can whether a statement is false, a bald lie or the absolute truth. If someone swear three times that a fact is true, it doesn't mean it’s true.
Ranjita Kaur: Najib, don't talk so much, please explain how a politician like you can afford to buy so many Birkin bags for your wife.
Please explain who ordered the killing of Altantuya Shaariibuu. Please explain how can a dead man strangle himself before jumping out of a window.
Please explain why our economy is deteriorating and the ringgit plunging fast despite your other finance minister say it is all okay.
Please explain why you need to travel in luxury and spent so much money while imposing heavy taxes on us.
Wira: Throw the same questions at state CEOs such as Penang CM Lim Guan Eng and Selangor MB Azmin Ali and you would get a swift and direct response.
Najib, learn to lead like Pakatan Rakyat leaders. Maybe you'll never be able to do so because there are already too many skeletons in your closet.
Anonymous_1419577444: Of course, Mr Prime Minister. Can you then answer the questions Mahathir put to you in plain, simple and honest truth?
Don’t beat around the bush. Don’t change the subject matter. Don’t bring up the other stuff. Just straight answers, please.
Anonymous_3f6d: I read that Najib has sworn he did not know Altantuya from the social media and news website. I guess I should not believe that, too.
Homesick: Najib, just remind us what you said about the Sedition Act before GE13? That is just one example why we don’t believe you.
Freethinker: I totally agree with Najib - there are half-truths and half lies. But the odd is still better than believing your promises.
