Pahang PAS Youth chief Nazri Ahmad was today announced as the PAS candidate for the Rompin Parliamentary by-election scheduled on May 5.

PAS vice president Salahuddin Ayub made the announcement at a 'ceramah' that was held at Bandar Satelit Muadzam Shah tonight to declare the candidate.

Nazri, 40, from Felda Keratong 5, Rompin holds a degree in Syariah Islamiah from the Al-Azhar University in Egypt.

The former Al-Quran teacher at the MRSM In Muadzam Shah, is also the Rompin PAS comissioner.

The Rompin parliamentary by-election is being held following the death of incumbent Jamaluddin Jarjis in a helicopter crash in Semenyih on April 4.

Yesterday, BN named acting Rompin Umno chief Hasan Arifin, 62, as its candidate.

In the 2013 general election, Jamaluddin won the seat for a sixth term by beating Nuridah Mohd Salleh from the PAS by a 15,114 vote majority.
