Former Kuala Lumpur CID chief, Mat Zain Ibrahim lodged a police report against Attorney General Abdul Gani Patail on Sunday, for not disclosing to the Royal Pardons Board that he is under investigation in relation to the Anwar Ibrahim sodomy II conviction.
 
Mat Zain, in his report sighted by Malaysiakini, alleges Gani had hid this fact to the board which met on March 16 and rejected Anwar's application for clemency. It was chaired by the Agung, Sultan Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah.

“Gani hid that he is being investigated following reports I lodged in Dec 2013, and following the order to investigate (OTI) issued by the Attorney General Chambers on Jan 3, 2014,” the former top cop said in his police report.

He also alleged that if the Agong had been informed of this, he would not have chaired the board meeting and made the decision to refuse granting a pardon to Anwar ( right ).
 
“The non-disclosure by Gani probably resulted in the board making an ill-informed decision by not awaiting the outcome of that investigation,” said Mat Zain.
 
The board dismissed Anwar's family application for clemency and this decision was disclosed to the Kuala Lumpur High Court last month.
 
Mat Zain said Gani was hiding the fact that an OTI was issued to government appointed prosecutor, Muhammad Shafee Abdullah, for allegedly lying in two affidavits he made in the Anwar sodomy II case at the Court of Appeal.
 
The OTI is in relation to giving a false statement or declaration as evidence under Section 199 of the Penal Code.
 
Although the OTI was issued on Jan 3, 2014, Mat Zain was only called in by the police in May last year, almost two months after Anwar was convicted by the Court of Appeal on March 7, 2014.

It was previously reported that Mat Zain had asked for a tribunal be set up against Gani for hiding the OTI on Shafee.
