ROMPIN A civil servant is among two arrested by police on suspicion of having assaulted a PAS operation centre in Rompin in the wee hours yesterday.

The duo aged 41 and 46 were arrested at the Rompin police headquarters when they lodged a police report there over the incident yesterday afternoon.

Police are seeking a remand order for the duo who also tested positive for marijuana, Bernama reported Pahang police chief Sharifuddin Ab Ghani as saying.

"Based on information we received, the suspect had caused chaos at the Bandar Rompin PAS operations centre, which turned into a scuffle.

"One of the suspect is a civil servant while the other is self-employed. We are seeking a remand order for both of them starting today," he is quoted as saying.

Sharifuddin said police believe the duo acted under the influence of the drug and are investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation and Section 15(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act for drug abuse.

BN’s Hasan Arifin is in a straight fight with PAS’ Nazri Ahmad in the Rompin by-election, triggered when BN MP Jamaluddin Jarjis died in a helicopter crash on April 4.

Rompin goes to the polls on May 5.
