MCMC asks YouTube to block Alvin Tan’s video

The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) had made a request to YouTube and Facebook to remove the video insulting the Muslim ‘call to prayer’ or azan which was posted by Alvin Tan on 21 April 2015.

However, from their monitoring, the said video had been re-uploaded several times on YouTube. Yesterday, YouTube had blocked the said video for Malaysian viewers and they are still communicating with Facebook to remove the video.

MCMC is currently monitoring the spread of the said video and reminded the public to not share the video be it on social media or chat apps as this may be in breach of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.

MCMC would like to remind the public to not be easily affected by such immoral behaviour which may jeopardise the peace and harmony of the nation.
