Early voting for Rompin by-election today
ROMPIN Early voting for the Rompin parliamentary seat by-election involving 545 registered voters started at 8am today.
The four centres for early voting are Dewan Sri Ibam of Squadron 322, Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) headquarters in Bukit Ibam, Rompin district police headquarters lounge, Muadzam Shah Police Station information room and Tekek Police Station information room, Pulau Tioman.
The early voters today comprise 285 members of the Malaysian Armed Forces and 260 members of the police force.
The voting centres at the Muadzam Shah police station and Tekek police station will close at 2pm and those at the RMAF Squadron 322 headquarters and Rompin district police headquarters will close at 5pm.
The Rompin by-election will see a straight contest between Barisan Nasional candidate Hasan Arifin and PAS candidate Nazri Ahmad, following the demise of the incumbent MP Jamaluddin Jarjis in a helicopter crash in Semenyih, Selangor on April 4.
