Umno-owned newspaper, Utusan Malaysia hinted that Attorney General Abdul Gani Patail should be replaced as yet another "wave of criticism” has hit the Attorney General's Chamber (AGC).

 

In its Sunday edition, Mingguan Malaysia , the paper's editorial column, "Bisik-Bisik Awang Selamat" claimed that people are concluding that AGC has now becomes "an obstacle" to their demands for the government to act tough against those who had broken the law.

 

It added that with his contract ending, Awang did not think that Gani wants to continue as AG even if an extension of his contract was offered.

 

“When we reach certain points in life, living in health and calm with family is more valuable. Let new people navigate the challenges. But who will it be?" the column mused.

 

It also stated that the newest criticisms were on AGC being late in reacting against businesses which had committed offenses under the Goods and Services Tax (GST), as well as on those who made seditious remarks against Islam and Malay rulers.

 

On the other hand, Gani has long been accused by the Opposition as being biased and acting only against pro-Pakatan lawmakers.
