We're multiracial, Umno reminds 'cross' members

Pputeh: If these people in Umno have to remind their members they live in a 'multiracial’ nation, then Umno has failed as a party.

Even the action taken against those party members involved in Crossgate is a slap on the wrist. Why?

The least Umno could have done is to sack them to set an example for the rest. Sowing hatred, especially through religion, should have no place in our multi-religious society.

Dont Just Talk: Finally, Umno Baru has woken up from its slumber which spells good tidings for Malaysians of all races and religions.

Umno secretary-general Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor (Ku Nan), we salute you for your brave words and hopefully, the presidents of Perkasa and Isma too will have their minds opened.

Prudent: Tengku Adnan said this is a multi-racial country. But the issue is not about race. It is about religion. Why did he not say that Malaysia is a multi-religious country?

Anonymous_4056: Reminding Umno members that we are a multiracial country? Hasn't it been too long coming?

After over 50 years of unbroken rule, Umno members are now reminded that we live in a multiracial society. What a joke.

All these years Umno members have been told time and again this is Tanah Melayu, all others are ‘pendatang’. Anyway, this is a good ‘sandiwara’.

Wira: Tengku Adnan, the removal of cross and burn the Bible, aren't these incidents similar?

Who gave the Taman Medan folks the courage and encouragement to publicly display religious intolerance in this country? Shouldn't Umno be guilty of that?

Your members are confused, the rakyat are angry because the Umno leadership is sending confusing signals.

Why Perkasa persident Ibrahim Ali, who publicly called for the burning of the Bible, allowed to get away with it without even a slap on his wrist?

Why is the IGP's brother, who was involved in the cross removal incident, invited to a three-hour interview with the police when opposition leaders had to spend the night or weekend in police lock-ups merely to wait for the police to record statements from them?

Your government is making the people angry because you are merely interested in Umno's hold to power rather than the interest of Malaysians at large.

JD Lovrenciear: This is either going to be another "I was misquoted" or a "What I said has been taken out of context".

Where is the logic and the justice? On the one hand, the police have ‘cleared’ the Taman Medan cross protesters. And now Umno serves ‘show-cause’ letters?

Don't Crucify My Birth Country: Is this an Umno house cleaning? Far from it.

Until the inspector-general of police’s (IGP) brother is put behind bars and the IGP understands what is expected from him as a top law enforcement officer, everything else is just bulls**t!

Speak for All: What does "We're a multiracial nation" mean in Malaysia, Tengku Adnan?

Is there any bearing as far as you are concerned.

Touch your heart and ask your soul whether you believe or subscribe to what you are saying to the other Umno people.

Fair and Just, Malaysia for All: Thirty years ago, I remember telling my Japanese friend that Malaysia is a multiracial country. But now I don’t think so.

Sabahan: Pea-brained delayed reaction by Tengku Adnan. It would be more helpful if he had just kept quiet. This only hardens the resolve of the people to kick out Umno.

Anonymous #20513663: Yes, but Umno is not multiracial. Therein lies the problem.

I would still like to see proof that this was not a ‘wayang’ (show) written, produced and acted by Umno merely to justify the Sedition Act. There is just too much circumstantial evidence for this hypothesis and very little against.

Too many ‘highly-connected’ people were involved. And now, the fact that no real action has been taken reinforces the suspicion of the Malaysian public that this was all an internal job.

RR: Gerakan, DAP and PKR are the real multi-racial and multi-religious parties. Umno, MCA and MIC are not.

The stakes are very high for the privileged Umno leaders and as well as others to form a real multi-racial, multi-religious single political party called BN or whatever.

But it should cut cross racial/religious barriers. Until then, it’s all just slogans.

Tulan: Only five show-cause letters issued? The rest of the protesters are hantu, yes?

AkuBangsaMalaysia: Umno will be awarded a VVIP floor in Museum Negara in 2018.
