After launching the new facelifted website for Program Pertama, its patron Rosmah Mansor cautioned against misusing it.

The prime minister's wife noted how certain webs were abused.

"Of late, there has been a certain segment of society which is inclined to use the (internet) as a medium to express discontent to the point there is concern that it can give rise to slander.

"I believe this is not the right approach because misusing websites in an unethical manner will not resolve the problems faced," she was quoted as saying by Bernama .

As such, she hoped web users would act responsibly for the benefit of all.

While it is not clear what she was referring to, the government has over the past few years cracked down on critics who voiced out their dissatisfaction on social media.

One notable case is political cartoonist Zunar being slapped with nine sedition charges for nine tweets critical of the Federal Court's decision to jail opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim.

On the new Permata website , Rosmah said it would serve as a more effective information channel for end users.

"It is hoped that through the new website, the relationship and communication between Permata and the masses would be faster, and be more beneficial for users," she said.

The new website covers all seven Permata programmes, including Permata Negara, Permata Pintar, and the Permata Children's Hospital.
