The 1MDB Board has found its voice. Finally.

But only to demand that critics wait for the auditor-general's report on its audit investigation into the complaints.

And to make a hardly veiled threat of legal action against those who make ‘malicious and slanderous allegations' – against those in and connected to 1MDB, of course.

Several qualified parties have pointed out why an audit by the government auditing department is not too acceptable. So let's not go into that. Instead, we'll go into the suing bit.

The strange thing is that all the threats to take legal action against those not singing praises of the non-strategic wealth fund, and of the dramatis personae in the saga of the sinking Bugis pirate skiff, have been limited to Malaysians.

And the only threat that has been carried out has seen a Malaysian having need to defend himself in court in due course.

But not a foreign party. May I repeat that? But not a foreign party.

The Sarawak Repor t has made tonnes of allegations that more than fit the description ‘malicious and slanderous'. It has even clearly portrayed several personae as scheming and plundering rogues.

The allegations made are so serious that were they baseless, the website owner could be sued right out of her unmentionables. And she'd be too naked even to go outside to collect her dole. That should teach her not to fabricate and publish any tall tales ever again.

But, no court action on the 'defamation'

Yet, not one single party, er, maliciously attacked and slandered beyond redemption, has taken the website owner to court for defamation.

Even a client of a London legal firm that specialises in these things and promises ‘law at the speed of reputation' has done nothing.

The only party that has done something is some Arabs. But the party has not sued the said website for defamation; it only filed a complaint of hacking with the London police. Not quite the same thing, is it?

Clare Rewcastle Brown is so certain of the accuracy of their reports that, following the report of the 1MDB Board's threat, she has thrown out a challenge.

Ms Rewcastle Brown ( right ), with your kind permission, I shall reproduce immediately below your challenge.

"So can we again say please, please, please sue us here at Sarawak Report , so that we can get all our evidence out before a proper court and jury (that does not include Najib's lackey judges and police force, who ring Putrajaya to learn their instructions on a daily basis).

A London court would do very nicely. Or a Singapore court, since that is where Jho Low stashed a number of his accounts.

Or maybe a US court, since Jho Low used the US banking system and he is a US citizen these days?

Put your accusations about our "vicious and slanderous allegations" into legal action, so that the world can pour [pore] through the evidence bit by bit."

And so, you fellows at 1MDB and all else, er, slandered beyond redemption, pick up the gauntlet now and show everyone of your total innocence.

Your inaction will confirm the allegations made by the Sarawak Report are with incontestably solid foundation.

We anxiously await to witness your bold charge – one that will outdo the Light Brigade's.
