MCA public complaints bureau chief Michael Chong has expressed support for the police personnel who was featured in a viral media condemning loan sharks.

Chong, who has many years of experience dealing with loan sharks, said he emphatised with Menglembu police station chief Chen Ah Kooy.

According to a Sin Chew Daily report, Chong said loan sharks have often crossed the line of decency.

"Although the choice of words in the video maybe not appropriate, but in dealing with loan sharks matter, I am standing by him (Chen)."

Chong said, he has contacted the inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar to state his stand on this matter, while IGP has promised to take action against loan sharks that harrassed innocent people.

According to Chong, MCA public complaints bureau has received 214 cases of complaint regarding loan sharks, amounting to loans involving a total of RM23 million.

The 42-second clip featuring Chen saw him clutching onto someone who was reportedly caught putting up advertisements for a money lender.

Chen then challenged loan sharks to a "one-on-one fist fight" and used an expletive to describe loan sharks towards the end of the video.

This forced the police to issue a statement stating that although Chen's intentions were noble, his choice of words were inappropriate.
