Consult internally first on shadow cabinet, DAP told

The ongoing spat between PAS and DAP continues with PAS information chief Mahfuz Omar saying DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng should ask its party organising secretary, Anthony Loke on Pakatan Rakyat's position on a shadow cabinet.

Mahfuz said Pakatan was built on mutual respect for one another and hence, Lim's attack on PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang as being the main obstacle to forming a Pakatan shadow cabinet was unwarranted.

“Today all party whips from DAP, PKR and PAS held a meeting with opposition leader Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail ( photo ) and we have reached an agreement that the Pakatan shadow cabinet idea is not the main factor which should be the reform of the Parliamentary institution.

“All parties sent two representatives to the meeting. Hence, it is wise that Lim refer to Loke on the issue of the shadow cabinet before attacking a Pakatan partner,” the Pokok Sena MP said in a statement.

Mahfuz said PAS has divided its MPs to various ministerial portfolios to ensure that each of them can focus on a particular issue.

Not wise for Lim

Yesterday, Lim who is also Penang chief minister, accused Hadi as the main obstacle towards forming a shadow cabinet as he said the matter required consultation and he did not have the confidence for such a meeting with Hadi.

Mahfuz, who is the PAS whip, added that it is not wise for Lim to be involved in personal attacks on another senior leader within Pakatan.

He said such attacks would not only worsen the relationship between Pakatan partners but it would also confuse the people who are looking to Pakatan forming the next government to replace BN in the 14th general elections.

“All Pakatan leaders should go back and discuss to resolve any outstanding issues to ensure there is peace and harmony," Mahfuz said.

He added that during the meeting with Wan Azizah, they have also agreed to form a committee to evaluate, study and analyse the 11th Malaysian Plan which would be tabled by Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak tomorrow.
