PAS election committee chairman Asmuni Awi has challenged the party leadership to sack him if they doubt his ability and credibility in handling the coming party polls.

“If there are other suggestion to make things better, please put it forward (to me), don’t just shoot off  remarks saying you are not convinced with me just because I was appointed by the central committee.

“As a human being, I feel hurt. If you are not convinced (with my ability) please sack me,” he told reporters at the PAS headquarters today.

Asmuni, who is a lawyer by profession, also called for criticisms of him to be clear as it would make it easier for him to take legal action adding that those who claimed he was bias should 'say it directly to me'.

Asmuni was responding to a statement by Kuala Nerus PAS chief M Shukrimun Shamsuddin who called for Asmuni to be sacked  from the election committee as he was biased.

Shukrimun also claimed  “others” wanted Asmuni sacked allegedly based on his track record last year.

Asmuni said he travelled from Ipoh to Kuala Lumpur almost every night for his party job to have meetings with various quarters so that the party polls could be conducted smoothly.

Playing dirty to win

“(For him) to say that I am biased is unfair. I am doing the best I can by taking all steps to ensure everything is in order,” he said.

PAS internal polls this time around have been marred by complaints that certain quarters have resorted to playing dirty to win.

This, however, was denied by president Abdul Hadi Awang who is facing a challenger to his post for the first time in more than 12 years.
