Malaysia does not recognise and will not entertain any claims on Sabah, said Foreign Minister Anifah Aman.

In a statement today, he said Sabah was recognised by the United Nations and the international community as part of Malaysia since Sept 16, 1963.

"The government of Malaysia reiterates its position that Malaysia does not recognise and will not entertain any claims by any party on Sabah," he said.

He said the ministry had summoned Philippine charge d'affaires Medardo G Macaraig on May 19 over the remarks made by Philippine President Benigno S Aquino III on the republic's claim on Sabah in an interview on May 15.

In the interview, Aquino had maintained that the Philippines would not drop its claim over Sabah and that there were factors to consider before making moves to press for it.
