Copter catches fire after landing on its side at KKIA

The engine of a helicopter caught fire after the aircraft landed on its side as it attempted an emergency landing at the international airport in Kota Kinabalu today, according to the Kota Kinabalu Fire and Rescue Department.

A spokespeson of the department said a woman pilot was slightly injured in the incident, which occurred at about noon, and was sent to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

The fire was put out by the airport fire and rescue unit, he said.

The Hornbill helicopter belonged to Layang-Layang Aerospace Sdn Bhd, he added.
