Indonesian police today offered a two billion rupiah (US$215,824) reward for the capture of two Malaysians wanted for a deadly bomb attack on the Australian embassy in Jakarta.

National detective chief Suyitno Landung said police offered the reward to anyone who can lead them to Azahari Husin and Noordin Mohammed Top, prime suspects in the bombing which killed nine people and wounded at least 180.

"One billion rupiah is offered for each, Azahari and Noordin. A separate 500 million rupiah is also offered for information that can lead to the arrest of their crew," Landung told AFP .

The two Malaysians are suspected members of the al-Qaeda-linked Jemaah Islamiah group and are believed to have constructed the bombs used in the October 2002 Bali blasts and in an attack last year on a Jakarta hotel.

Both Australian and Indonesian police have warned that the extremists behind Thursday's embassy attack could be poised for a fresh strike, prompting heavy security around Western embassies, hotels and other potential targets.

President Megawati Sukarnoputri has ordered Indonesia on full alert following the attack, which came less than two weeks before polls in which she is seeking re-election.
