PAS Youth needs the correct leaders to help rejuvenate the wing, said its leader Suhaizan Kaiat.

In his policy speech at the PAS Youth muktamar today, Suhaizan said the youth wing needs leaders that can bring in fresh ideas.

Citing from the Quran, he said Talut (Saul) was chosen by Allah to be the first king of an united Israel, despite being a commoner.

"This teaches us that we should choose leaders who meet our rejuvenation needs," he said.

PAS Youth will be holding its leadership election tomorrow.

Suhaizan is defending his post against the Nik Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz, the son of former PAS spiritual leader Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat.

Nik Abduh is aligned to a faction supportive of PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang and he is heavily favoured to beat Suhaizan.

At a press conference later, Suhaizan warned party members against voting based on emotions.

"We have to use our intelligence before doing something. Emotions and sentiments are dangerous, if we vote on sentiments it will be very dangerous," he said.

Tomorrow, 736 delegates from 175 divisions will be voting for the new PAS Youth leadership.

Results are expected to be announced in the afternoon.
