In an obvious swipe at those who are pro-Pakatan Rakyat, PAS spiritual leader Haron Din reminded party members about the concept of loyalty.
"Loyalty must be given to the PAS leadership and not to other parties, in a political cooperation," he said in his opening speech at the Dewan Ulama muktamar in Gombak today.
This was one of six points of reference cited by Haron for "tahaluf siyasi" (political cooperation).
He said political cooperation must lead to betterment instead of being detrimental, which could result in enmity and dividing PAS.
"Tahaluf siyasi is not a promise. The current cooperation is one that aims for the betterment. If nothing good can come out of it, I think you yourself know better…
"If there's enmity and interference, we need to refer to the Quran.
"Therefore, I urge all who love PAS to be committed in defending PAS against the various attacks," he added in reference to criticisms from DAP.
According to Haron, other points of reference pertaining to political cooperation were to uphold Islam and pave the way to implement Islamic laws.
The cooperation, he argued, must also ensure that Islam is defended.
"The Syura council also has absolute powers to decide on the continuation of the tahaluf siyasi, whether there is good or bad sides to it from time to time," he said.
