Newly minted PAS Youth Chief Nik Abduh Nik Aziz will defend the party against attacks from within Pakatan, but said he will do so softly.

"Saya tak ambil tindakan keras, saya, bertindak lembut je (I do not act harshly, I only act softly)," he said when asked if would take a sterner stance against critics of PAS.

In his first press conference as the new Youth Chief, Nik Abduh also stated his commitment for PAS to stay with Pakatan.

"We stress that we will continue to be with Pakatan Rakyat. We hope all the cracks and uneasiness (within Pakatan) can be solved in a good manner. That is our commitment," he said.

No Pakatan break-up

He dismissed the suggestion that the opposition pact would break-up because of hudud law implementation or talks of a Umno-PAS unity government.

"Both these factors are not a basis for a split. [...] as long as hudud is not proven to be cruel, it is not a reason for Pakatan to break-up.

"Same goes for the unity government issue. The Syura Council and party resident Abdul Hadi Awang have stressed that a unity government with Umno does not arise.

"If DAP or (PKR) use the unity government issue, then they are using the wrong issue," he said.

He also refused to comment on the ulama faction supporting a motion to split with Pakatan as he said he had not heard about it yet.
