Monitor NCR, PM tells Sarawak ministers
Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak has instructed Sarawak ministers to monitor the progress of the transfer of ownership of Native Customary Rights (NCR) land to the state's bumiputeras.
In his latest postings on his Facebook and Twitter accounts, Najib said:"No one can question the birthright of Sarawak Bumiputeras".
In the 11th Malaysia Plan tabled by Najib recently, among the things focused on was the transfer of NCR land to bumiputeras of Sabah and Sarawak to promote the development of these lands using modern technology through government agencies.
Sarawak Dayak National Union (SDNU) supreme council member Chambai Lindong was recently reported as saying that the focus on providing the NCR land had been long coveted by the people of Sarawak.
He said that currently, the Dayak Bidayuh National Association (DBNA) had been mandated by the government to conduct NCR land surveys for the Bidayuh community.
