PAS' Ulama wing revealed that it did not raise a motion to cut ties with PKR, which also rejected the implementation of hudud, because PKR did not attack the party on a daily basis.

"They don't agree, but not like how DAP doesn't agree. They don't disagree again and again like DAP, which does it daily.

"PKR lembut sikit, tak sekeras (PKR is softer, not as hard) as DAP, they just don't agree (with hudud's implementation)," PAS Ulama chief Mahfouz Mohamed said today.

The Ulama wing had on Wednesday approved a motion to cut ties with DAP.

PAS and DAP relations are currently at breaking point, with DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang hinting that Pakatan would meet its demise after this year’s muktamar.

Speaking at a press conference on the sidelines of the 61st PAS Muktamar, Mahfouz added that their motion to cut off ties with DAP doesn't conflict with PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang's stance that tahaluf siyasi (political cooperation) should continue.

"It doesn't conflict because we only want to split with DAP, not with Pakatan or PKR," he said.

Youth still on friendly terms

PAS’ new Youth chief Nik Abduh Nik Aziz ( photo, left ), who was also at the press conference, however, had different plans from the Ulama wing.

"We the Youth have different opinions from the Ulama wing," he said.

He said he would continue with his predecessor Suhaizan Kaiat's work, and will try to heal the wounds between PAS Youth and its DAP and PKR counterparts.

"I have already met with the DAP Youth chief (Teo Kok Seong) in Parliament, and I promised him that if I won (the PAS Youth leadership), I would have coffee with him," Nik Abduh said.

DAP Youth had cut off ties with PAS Youth due to disagreements over hudud, toeing the line of the party by snubbing the muktamar.
