No more ‘PAS for all’, but ‘Reject PAS by all’
YOURSAY ‘The romance is over. It is time for divorce. That is only way.’
Hadi crushes challenger, Mat Sabu trounced
Ferdtan: The results of PAS polls confirmed that its members want to leave Pakatan Rakyat. They can either remain independent or join BN. Either way they are finished as a national party.
Now that PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang has won the presidency and no matter what he may say about remaining in Pakatan, we, especially the non-Muslims, will never vote for PAS again.
We just cannot trust PAS under Hadi’s presidency. We will make sure they will not get to take over Putrajaya even if they remain in Pakatan. We warn PKR and DAP, if PAS is still in the coalition, it will be Pakatan’s loss as we will never vote for them.
We are very surprised with the progressives faction’s lack of preparation in this party election. They are supposed to be professional and wise, but they were surprising outplayed by a group of ulama who only read holy books.
In the last two years, the ulama faction has secretively placed all their key division leaders in place and with their support, they are able to win easily. Before the voting begins they have already sealed 40 percent of the votes, as the winning branches can nominate their voting delegates.
This is like Umno when Dr Mahathir Mohamad implemented the ‘bonus’ votes in the party elections. We have come to accept that this may turn out to be a blessing in disguise; the ulama faction sweeping all the seats. Once and for all, we can reject PAS outright with no regret.
We are not sad that Mohamad Sabu lost to the ulama faction as it is rather expected, and this loss may serve a higher purpose.
The heading in a previous piece of ‘Yoursay’ said it all, ‘ Let ulama sweep the slate, Pakatan can start anew ’. Indeed, there is no more mixed feelings about PAS. The romance is over. It is time for divorce. That is only way - it is no longer ‘PAS for all’, it is ‘Reject PAS by all’.
If PAS were still in Pakatan for GE14, DAP will lose big by associating with them. That is guaranteed. This does not matter whether Hadi may extend an olive branch to them. We would never, not again, let them duped us to help them win Putrajaya.
If they want Putrajaya, they will have to do it themselves. We want no part with it. We are not stupid; once bitten, twice shy. We, the people, have already decided. Solve the Selangor case once and for all. We are ready for another state snap election.
PKR and DAP can still win Selangor as PM Najib Razak is still weak with all the infighting in Umno. MB Azmin Ali, be prepared, the longer you wait, BN may get stronger.
Voice: Even if PAS managed to walk with other Pakatan coalition partners and win the next GE, there is no guarantee that PAS will not betray Pakatan and team up with Umno to form the next government.
Based on prevailing sentiment among PAS members and the party direction - this betrayal is possible if Pakatan is fortunate enough to win the next GE.
SRMan: A very clear line has been drawn. The anti-Pakatan forces have taken complete control of PAS with solid mandates. However, do not fret.
As I have commented before, with the next GE is about three years, and Pakatan (minus PAS) will have sufficient time to re-organise itself.
There is no point working with a party which can back stab you anytime, worst of all if it happens during a crucial time like a GE.
With such 'friends' who have already shown their true colours, you don't have to look over your shoulder to check whether they have knives or parangs in their hands.
Anonymous_3e86: Well, if DAP and PKR do not kick PAS out of Pakatan, they will never get to see Putrajaya. With PAS in Pakatan voting, for any Pakatan party means a vote for PAS and hudud as well.
PKR and DAP should know the feelings of the moderates and non-Muslims and kick out PAS. Hadi's intention of staying on in Pakatan is to eventually implement hudud when Pakatan takes over Putrajaya.
He knows he has been played out by Umno and now uses Pakatan to pursue his hudud agenda. Staying on in Pakatan gives him the best chance to implement hudud.
Disgusted: Hadi may win this battle, but PAS has lost the war for the votes of rakyat. Hadi can keep PAS and take the party back to the dark ages. No way are the non-Malays and moderate Malays going to give PAS their votes even if it means Umno may gain victory.
I sincerely hope those not wanted in PAS will form a new Islamic party, not a bigoted, extremist Taliban-type like PAS. It’s time for PasMa to strike out on its own.
You can bet we will support them against PAS, Umno or anyone else in BN. PAS is doomed come 14th GE.
Imran: Yes, I hope PKR will have the guts like DAP to kick out PAS from Pakatan. PKR leaders, who so far have been double-headed snakes, want Putrajaya so badly that they will stoop very low to keep PAS in.
I have already made up my mind that if PAS is in Pakatan, I will prefer to vote for BN.
Maplesyrup: Only 20 percent of the PAS delegates are moderates? Well, good riddance then. I won’t give my vote to BN, but neither will I give my vote to PAS.
PAS to become a provincial party, again
