Newly-minted PAS Youth chief Nik Abduh Nik Aziz today described himself as a shy leader, but warned that he can still make his foes bleed.

"I am a bit shy. Not a shy, shy cat, but a shy, shy tiger. I can scratch, and my scartch is not that of the Muslimat which does not bleed.

" Insyallah my scratches will draw blood," he said today in his winding-up speech at the 61st PAS muktamar.

In his speech, Nik Abduh ( left in photo with Suhaizan Kaiat ) paid tribute to his late father, former PAS spiritual leader Nik Aziz Nik Mat, whom he said had taught him how to overcome his fear of public speaking.

"Father said it was easy (to overcome this fear), just pretend everyone you're speaking to are logs," he said, prompting the delegates to laugh.

Nik Abduh added that while he may not be a good orator, he is a good writer and will lead PAS Youth through the written word.

Said to be of the ulama faction, Nik Abduh defeated his predecessor Suhaizan Kaiat with 62 percent of the votes cast, securing 429 votes to the latter's 262 votes.
