PKR leaders will be meeting soon with DAP and PAS to discuss relations between the latter two parties, said PKR communications director Fahmi Fadzil today.

The followed a motion passed without debate at the PAS muktamar on Friday urging the party leadership to sever ties with DAP.

He said the date for the meeting would be announced in the future, adding that the PKR central leadership council is still discussing the issue.

He said that 52 percent of voters at the 13th general election are putting their hopes on a two-party system to bring change in Malaysian politics.

Therefore, PKR would endeavour to continue its struggles within the Pakatan Rakyat framework.

Later, PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail ( photo ) said she would hold the meeting with DAP and PAS at the Parliament building soon, although she would travel to Sabah first due to the recent earthquakes.

“We will meet (DAP and PAS) in Parliament, we will meet as soon as possible,” she told reporters.

She was speaking in at the PKR headquarters in Petaling Jaya, after attending the PKR central leadership council’s monthly meeting that lasted for about four hours.

When asked about Persatuan Ummah Sejahtera Malaysia’s (PasMa) upcoming meeting to discuss the possibility of forming a new political party and whether it could join Pakatan Rakyat, Wan Azizah curtly replied, “PasMa is still an NGO, (to join Pakatan) we need to hold a meeting first.”
