Felda dismisses claim of mortgaging settlers’ land

Felda has dismissed an accusation that settlers’ land would be mortgaged should there be a drop in the price of the shares of Felda Global Ventures Holdings Bhd (FGV) and says it is untrue.

Director-general Hanapi Suhada said the accusation was merely circulated by those who are dissatisfied and that it is normal for share prices to rise or fall.

“There have been claims that Felda land would be mortgaged, but there is nothing to worry about. The settlers’ land cannot be traded despite a fall in the share price.

“As such, we ask the settlers who are unclear about the matter to seek clarification from the Felda management,” he said when opening the Felda Air Tawar 2 heritage museum.
