Honda Malaysia today announced a precautionary update for another 46,710 units of Honda vehicle, of which 26,186 units include the City (year of manufacture (YM) 2008-2009), Civic (2007-2009 YM), CR-V (2007-2008 YM) and Jazz (2007 & 2009 YM).

These models are affected by the front passenger airbag inflator, Honda Malaysia said in a statement today.

It said there were also 20,524 units of Accord (2003–2007 YM) which were affected by the driver front airbag inflator.

“This precautionary effort is to replace the driver and passenger airbag inflators with newly produced inflators for all affected models,” Honda Malaysia said, adding that the current selling models were not affected.

Honda Malaysia would be informing all affected customers via notification letters which would include details of the product update while customers who receive these letters are advised to send their vehicles to the nearest authorised Honda dealer for inspection.

The replacement works would be carried out once the parts are ready, and the costs of parts and labour would be borne by Honda Malaysia, the Japanese car marker said.

Vehicle owners can also check their vehicle’s product update status by calling Honda’s Toll Free number 1-800-88-2020 or visit any authorised Honda dealer, or log on to www.honda.com.my .

“Honda Malaysia continues to urge owners of Honda vehicles affected by the airbag inflator product updates to get their vehicles checked and parts replaced at any authorised Honda dealers as soon as possible,” it added.
