PAS Hulu Klang assemblyperson Saari Sungib believes the Pakatan Rakyat Selangor government is heading for a crisis.

This is because within PKR itself, the party's 13 state assemblypersons are divided on whether to side with PAS or with DAP.

"(Selangor) PKR is no longer solid... The formation is unlike last year (during the menteri besar crisis).

"I hope I am wrong. But PKR may not stick with (the current formation). The (political) development will unfold," Saari ( photo ) told the media at a function in Kuala Lumpur.

During the menteri besar imbroglio last year, Saari and another PAS assemblyperson, Hasnul Baharuddin, went against the PAS leadership to express support for PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail to take over the state leadership.

 

However PKR deputy president Azmin Ali emerged as the victor for the post of menteri besar, replacing Khalid Ibrahim who was sacked from PKR.

 

The forming of the Selangor government requires at least the support of 29 out of 56 state assemblypersons.

Currently, PKR, PAS and DAP hold 13, 15 and 15 seats respectively. BN-Umno has 12, while Khalid is an independent.

PAS at its recent muktamar, passed a motion to sever ties with DAP. How this translates into political reality is yet to be seen, but the governance of Selangor could well be at stake.
