There are many hints to indicate that newly re-elected PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang is cooperating with Umno, PAS Hulu Klang assemblyperson Saari Sungib says.

Shaari, who has been suspended from his PAS membership for a year over the Selangor menteri besar row last August, said the indications were very clear in Hadi’s closing remarks in the recently-concluded PAS Muktamar.

“The president gave hints (in his speech) that PAS should work with the Malay-Muslims (Umno), rather than with DAP.

“The least harsh (words) of Hadi against Umno was ‘kezaliman Umno’ (Umno is reckless)… but now he said Umno is different with ‘firaun’ (pharoah).

“Normally, Hadi will take hard stance against Umno,” Saari, ( photo ) who is from the PAS progressive faction, told the media at a function in Kuala Lumpur.

Hadi in his closing remarks at the muktamar in Kuala Selangor dismissed criticism on PAS meeting with Umno, saying that Umno was not bad as a pharaoh.

Hadi is known to be inclined to work with Umno to push for the PAS hudud agenda.

The ulama faction, headed by Hadi, crushed the progressive faction in the recent PAS elections.

Solidarity dinner on Sunday

In order to appreciate PAS progressive’s effort in keeping Pakatan Rakyat intact, Saari, who is the chairperson of NGO Otai Reformis ( photo ), announced that a solidarity dinner will be held in Pantai Dalam, Kuala Lumpur on Sunday at 8pm.

The dinner, titled 'Tetap bersamamu - terbuang tapi terbilang' (Always be with you - discarded but eminent) will feature the progressive leaders such as Mohamad Sabu, Husam Musa and Salahuddin Ayub.

Otai Reformis was formed by a group of 1998 Reformasi activists to remember the movement.
