DAP will not wait for the PKR decision on the fate of Pakatan Rakyat, since the coalition is now dead.
DAP parliamentary leader Lim Kit Siang dismissed questions when asked about the PKR political bureau meeting tonight, at which its president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail is expected to made their decision on the future of Pakatan Rakyat
"Pakatan has ceased to exist because of the decision made by the PAS muktamar. We should not waste any more time on this polemic," Lim said in response to questions from reporters in the Parliament lobby this afternoon.
Lim, who is also the MP for Gelang Patah, said DAP is now focused on a new coalition to challenge the BN government and to give hope to the people.
"I read in Malaysiakini that we need to die before being reborn. We had given the people a new hope, but we have ceased to exist.
"We need to rekindle the hope. The realignment of political forces will take place," he said.
Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, who is also DAP secretary-general, announced in a statement today that Pakatan is dead.
"The DAP central executive committee (last night) accepts the PAS muktamar's motion to sever ties with DAP and effectively, that Pakatan ceases to exist," Guan Eng said in the statement.
