An Umno supreme council member has urged Johor crown prince Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim and Minister Nazri Abdul Aziz to stop bickering.

"I think it is time for both of them to put an end to this," said Reezal Merican Naina Merican ( photo ).

"The people don't want this kind of ugliness, there must be mutual respect."

He added it was incumbent on both parties, to end to the spat.

The Umno supreme council member, however, did not answer if this issue had become a hot potato to Umno.

 

"More importantly, we want to uphold justice and the truth, whatever it is," he said.

Reezal added that 'whack' wasn't meant literally. "I won't go further than that. To me, certain things can be misconstrued.

 

“That's why I don't SMS, I don't tweet, because they don't represent the real emotion, the actual intonation of my voice, and might give the wrong signals.

 

"Besides the truth, we are also governed by decorum and ethics.

As MPs, as lawmakers, we are discussing, deliberating here. 

"Yet we are not upholding the standards of what civilised society should be," he reflected.

 

Tunku Ismail had started the ball rolling on June 5 by mocking Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak ( photo ) for failing to turn up at a highly-anticipated dialogue on 1MDB.

Tunku Ismail said someone who had "everything to hide"  would not have turned up at a dialogue titled "Nothing2Hide".

In return, Nazri told the prince not to meddle with politics, or risk being whacked .

 

Inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar said the police is looking into the matter and will record Nazri's statement soon.
