PAS Youth: Selangor MB's on our side, too

PAS Youth today said even though DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng had declared the end of Pakatan Rakyat, Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali appear to share the same stance with PAS - Pakatan still lives.

PAS Youth vice chief Khairil Nizam Khirudin praised Azmin, who is also PKR deputy president, for taking a measured stance.

"Lim's statement after the DAP central executive committee meeting must be compared to the contradictory statement of Azmin who is still rational in considering the situation.

"He is still optimistic of Pakatan's cooperation in Selangor and rejected the option to dissolve the state assembly," said Khairil ( photo ) in a statement today.

On Thursday, Azmin rebutted : "who said Pakatan no longer exists?" when asked about the demise of the coalition.

He claimed the media misinterpreted PKR president Wan Azizah Wan Ismail's statement about the status of Pakatan, in which she stated that Pakatan had "no longer functioned formally".

Khairil also slammed DAP for using PAS' passing of a motion at its muktamar earlier this month which proposed the severing of ties with DAP as a premise to declare Pakatan dead.

"It is DAP's overboard actions that forced the PAS Dewan Ulama to react by proposing the emergency motion to sever ties with DAP but remaining in Pakatan.

However, he said the motion was still subjected to PAS' Syura Council approval.

He accused DAP of playing a "game" where it had interfered in PAS' internal affairs and finally ended Pakatan on its own accord.

Khairil reiterated that PAS was still with Pakatan so long as it is according to Islamic law.

Meanwhile, Perak DAP chief Nga Kor Ming said there was no need to dissolve the Selangor state assembly as DAP, PKR and PAS still support Azmin's leadership which gives him a majority.

"Pakatan may no longer exist but the Selangor government can still continue on in the form of coalition government based on the 13th general election manifesto which only expires in 2018," he said.
