DAP: Pakatan would have split if GE13 won

Prudent: The 53 percent opposition vote in GE13 (and now rapidly growing) is now up for grabs in GE14. With Anwar in prison, the opposition candidate for PM in GE14 is also up for grabs.

PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, based on her taciturn performance in the present crisis caused by PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang, is not a convincing candidate as prime minister for the opposition.

She lacks the political skills and decisiveness, besides lacking appreciation of modern finance and economics.

Wan Azizah will be too dependent on advisers like PKR secretary-general Rafizi Ramli if she becomes prime minister and Rafizi himself lacks experience in economic management. Several recent important incidents known to the electorate will show this.

Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah has too much Umno DNA, besides being a suspect in the BMF scandal and in the murder of then Bank Bumiputra's internal auditor by his bodyguard.

So, the race to define the realignment of the opposition forces is on. No less important is the race to identify the new opposition's candidate for prime minister in GE14, one who can be perceived as being able to deliver the economic goodies.

Hbasill: Isn’t it weird that DAP parliamentary leader Lim Kit Siang now says that Pakatan Rakyat would have broken up if it had won GE13 because Hadi would not have endorsed Anwar Ibrahim as prime minister?

Why on earth did DAP stay as a coalition member of Pakatan? Wasn’t DAP misleading its supporters, because if the truth be told, DAP would have been wiped out too?

How can Kit Siang remain quiet and for selfish reasons not disclose what he knew then. Let me warn all in DAP that if they remain in a coalition with PAS, I will not cast my vote for DAP at all.

I have voted DAP for the past eight general elections. I will also tell all my friends not to vote DAP. There is no room for such people, including Kit Siang. Selfish politicians should not serve the rakyat.

I know Kit Siang and DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng have made sacrifices for the rakyat, but this damning revelation by Kit Siang is undermining the trust of supporters. Watch out, DAP. You will bury yourself if you remain in a coalition, including in Selangor.

Hearty Malaysian: Move on Kit Siang, build DAP and the New Alliance stronger, without the Trojan horses in Pakatan. If PKR’s Azmin Ali, the menteri besar of Selangor, is too ambitious and wants a unity government with PAS-Umno, so be it.

We will take the challenge with you together as moderates but nation-loving citizens to get rid of this bunch of greedy and sleepy politicians.

Wira: Get real. The most influential person in PAS during the 2013 general election was Tok Guru Nik Aziz Nik Mat and not Hadi Awang.

However, that changed after the demise of Nik Aziz early this year. Uncle Lim wasn't lying because Tok Guru would have made Hadi toe the line, just like what he did in 2008 when Hadi held secret talks with Umno to undermine an opposition win.

HERO325: Get rid of PAS first and deal with Umno later. Otherwise it will be too late when, this country becomes a hudud state. Talibanism will set in and there will be no more democracy for Malaysia.

if you dislike Umno, okay no problem. But you cannot take this as a reason to vote for PAS, which is a Taliban party after it’s recent muktamar.

Fair Play: Kit Siang, believe me, you are still flogging a dead horse. Move on and regroup to prepare for a better Malaysia in GE14.

Fairnsquare: We are in the process of evolving into a two party system. All these are growing pains. We must endure them and work for the better. There are no failures, only learning.

We need to move on. We have progressives and moderates evolving along with the extremists advocated by PAS. This is the real blessing. No failures but just the beginnings of better things to come. Perhaps PasMa is the best option for an opposition front.

Anonymous: Stop here and forget about PAS. Please don't talk anymore about it, let bygones be bygones. Don't waste time on what's not important now.

iiiizzzziiii: What has happened to Pakatan will serve as a very good lesson for others in the future. First and foremost, religion and politics do not mix very well, especially in political parties.

As always, there will always be two forces struggling to exert their authority and influence onto the party. At times, the moderates or progressives will come up top but at other times the conservatives or hardliners will come up top.

It is going to be a nightmare for others to collaborate with such a party. When all else fails, the conservatives will always fall back to their understanding and interpretation of God's divine plan.

And history has shown that violence has been used to embrace and fulfil a divine plan based on a few so-called wise men’s interpretation and understanding of God's divine plan for man.

History repeats itself, time and time again. So, do what you have to do, but leave God out of it. Do we honestly think that God needs man to defend God? That will be a first when that happens.

Rubicon: Get PAS out… and move on.

Stop blaming others, Najib raps Palanivel

Ferdtan: MIC president G Palanivel, a cabinet minister, next senior in rank to MCA president, obviously knows how the government and its institutions such as the Registrar of Societies (ROS), work.

He is fully aware that in this case the ruling by ROS, which had been made against him in the party dispute, would not have been made without the tacit approval from Umno’s top leaders.

To him the decision of ROS is the decision of Umno. Umno has taken sides in the internal party dispute and wants to get rid of him as party president. Therefore it is out of desperation and anger, not courage, that he lashed out at the top man of Umno, Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

Personally I think Palanivel will lose the battle in the end. For the small component parties in BN, the cliché is, “What Umno wants, Umno gets.”

Fairnsquare: MIC should just hold re-elections and not blame the prime minister. Let the delegates choose their president. If it is still a stalemate, then just disband as the Indians do not need a representation from people with their own political ambitions.

Fair Play: I wonder how many of the Palanivel gang (MP and state representatives) will leave with him and join Pakatan if Najib decides to boot Palanivel out.

Anonymous_1430119660: Gone are the days for you to threaten MIC. They might appear weak and down, but the spirit of the left-out and cheated Indians, who had supported the government for past 12 GEs, is burning with rage.

Don’t underestimate and think that your pittance handout of government money, titles and positions will get MIC to turn its head to you. ‘Dia orang ada maruah’ (they still have dignity).

Sirach: Najib can be a real hero when dealing with MIC, a party which many (most?) Indians have given up on. Palanivel should see Najib and tell it like he sees it. Stand up to this guy and MIC may recoup some measure of respect. This is a guy under siege from within his own party.

He's hardly come clean on what could be the biggest financial scandal in our history. So his credibility is shot and there's no need to quiver. Don't know a thing about MIC infighting, but Palanivel appears a better bet than the other fella, if only because he called out Najib. Let's hope he doesn't backpedal.
