Pakatan Rakyat's failure to keep its three parties together proves that BN is the better coalition, Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin claimed today.

"BN has 13 parties which have different races, languages and religions but we managed to protect BN as one compared to Pakatan which has only three parties but didn't last long," he mocked.

Speaking at a press conference after chairing an Umno Youth exco meeting in Petaling Jaya, Khairy said the people must now concede that even though BN did have internal problems, they didn't result in the coalition splitting up.

Khairy also urged DAP, PAS and PKR to stop beating around the bush and be clear about their respective political stands.

"The situation now shows that Pakatan is no more. So we want to know clearly, who is working together with who and what is their stand on issues such as hudud and so on," he said.

The tripartite Pakatan pact imploded last week with DAP declaring it 'dead' following a long drawn-out spat with ally PAS over hudu law implementation.

This culminated in PAS passing a motion at is recent muktamar to sever ties with DAP.

Confusingly, PAS maintains that Pakatan still lives despite PKR also declaring that Pakatan has ceased to exist formally.

MIC leader rapped

On another matter, Khairy said embattled MIC president G Palanivel should do some soulsearching on why the Indian party was in crisis instead of blaming Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak for the mess.

"Even though we don't interfere in BN component parties' affairs, Umno Youth believes leaders of these component parties should not blame the prime minister for their internal problems.

"Blaming the prime minister is only to cover up the weaknesses of the party's leadership," he said.

Palanivel ( photo ) on Saturday blamed Najib for MIC's leadership woes after the BN chairperson supported the Registrar of Societies order that the MIC hold  fresh elections.

Najib yesterday said he would summon Palanivel to explain his statement blaming him.
