A labourer who injured his niece with a chair was fined RM2,500, in default three months' jail, by a Magistrate's Court in Kuala Lumpur today.

Earlier, Mohamad Khalid Abu Hussin, 37, admitted hurting the 17-year-old with a wooden chair at a flat in Flat Sentul Utama, Sentul in Kuala Lumpur at 2.45pm on June 15.

   

According to the facts of the case, the labourer had quarrelled with the teenager after scolding her for skipping school.

    

He then hurled the cover of a pot in her direction, but missed.

Not satisfied, Mohamad Khalid threw a wooden chair at the victim, injuring her forehead.

   

Meanwhile in the same court, a contractor was jailed eight months for breaking into a store at a construction site in Sentul and stealing PVC cable coils yesterday.

   

Magistrate Erry Shahriman Nor Aripin imposed the sentence on Chang Pek Onn, 40, when he pleaded guilty to stealing 12 cable coils worth RM1,000, at Desa Park City Kepong about 11pm.

The cable coils belonged to CT Lite Electrical.

    

Erry also jailed Chang for three months for failing to furnish his identity card at the same place, time and date.

    

The court ordered the sentences to run concurrently, from the date of his arrest on June 22.
