Not only Salahuddin, the country at a crossroads

YOURSAY ‘If you fall, you pull yourself up again and fight another day!’

Salahuddin: I'm being kicked while I'm down

Kim Quek: Former PAS vice-president Salahuddin Ayub, you are indeed at a crossroads – not only for your political career, but also for our 58-year-old country.

This is because the fate of the country depends on the strength of the opposition alliance, which in turn is now put in a quandary by PAS.

A right decision from you may help to create a new and positive political force out of the present ruin of PAS, and contribute towards the rise of a new opposition alliance, which will be destined to save the country from going down into the ravine at the hands of the present rulers.

Salahuddin, ask yourself: why are you in politics? Is it not to serve the people? What is the topmost agenda of your political struggle now? Is it not to replace Umno to restore good governance?

If your answers are yes, then, which decision is more likely to bring about the realisation of your objectives: to accept PAS’ offer of membership in the central committee or to reject it?

Magic dragon: Salahuddin Ayub, without PAS it is not going to be the end of the world! There will still be monsoons and flooding every year in Kelantan. Perhaps, this is Allah’s way of telling you to disassociate from these unprincipled ulama in PAS.

If you wish to further your political career, let religion be your guide to chart your political course of justice, but not to present a false image of deception. If you fall, you pull yourself up again and fight another day!

Onyourtoes: Leaders must provide leadership. The ulama have won, but that does not mean they are right. They have managed to keep their followers ignorant and stupid so that they can continue to lord over them with their archaic ideology.

PAS as a party today will only bring destruction and misery to the people. Remember the Nazis were also very popular when they first came to power.

We need enlightened Malay and Muslim leaders who can bring Malaysians forward, not to continue to wallow in the mud.

Hplooi: Yang Berbahagia, what's the point of being in the PAS central committee when your views will be sidelined/ignored/or countermanded, etc?

But should you be in the committee, you will be duty-bound to support whatever stand the panel promulgates (subject to veto by the president from the comfort of his armchair) over any misgivings or philosophical disagreement you may have.

LBS: Bro Salahuddin, it is no doubt very hard for you to leave the party after you have been a member for 30 over years. But you have to be realistic because times have changed. You are now no older and wiser.

If you accept to be a member of the PAS central committee, first you will be a lone voice, your voice may not carry any weight and you may not even have a chance to voice your views. Fellow members in the committee may look down on you, they may even sideline you and put you in cold storage.

If you are in the committee, you will be among the allegedly poisonous ones. You will have to endorse or be a part of whatever decisions they make, even if these are against your principles. Bro, leave them alone and start anew in a new pasture. Your wounds will heal in time. May Allah bless you always.

Hang Tuah PJ: They don’t want you to join PasMa. They are trying to kill off PasMa.

Ace: They offered some posts to you moderates NOT because they are generous and magnanimous, nor are they keen to heal the party. They just want to use you guys as window dressing to present a more palatable image - i.e. basically to lie to the rakyat!

Ablastine: Don't worry, when you decide to leave later, which you must, you will see that they will try all sorts of methods to retain you. The PAS ulama and Abdul Hadi Awang must have received instructions from their Lord, Umno, and they by now must have realised that it was a terrible mistake to kick out almost all the moderates and intellectuals in PAS.

PAS now being controlled by Taliban and Isis lovers will be shunned like the plague by most of the people in the country, with no hope of winning seats outside Kelantan. Even in Kelantan it will just be a matter of time before Hadi screws it up, like he did in Trengganu.

Umno knows that PAS, without the core of moderates and intellectuals, is just an empty shell and these guys can just easily migrate or form another party to create another leaner and stronger opposition coalition.

Stronger because the reformatting would have killed all the Trojan horses and Taliban viruses. Long live the new opposition coalition. It is a timely demise for PAS.

Mr KJ John: Bro, we the rakyat of Malaysia, must form a moderate group of Malaysians moving forward, and drop these 'idiocrats' who cannot see beyond their noses! They are Melayu, Indians, and Cina. Kita Malaysian, kan? You lead and we will follow!

Hcleong: YB Salahuddin was supposed to be the MB of Johor if we had won in GE13. He has the calibre and leadership. If he continues in PAS, he will never be able to be one, to lead Malaysia to be a corrupt-free, good governance country.

You must have the power from the rakyat, who are looking forward to a country that does not depend on race and religion. The people need moderates like you, not the ulama. We respect your choice, and hope you make the right one.

Haveagreatday: Salahuddin, I do not wish to read too much into your statement, for as you have stated so clearly, you are clearly your own man and you will indeed make your own decision. Yes, for us who have become disgusted with the wolves in religious robes in PAS, we hope you will not lend a cloak of acceptability to their deviousness and deceitfulness.

Fair Play: Salahuddin, Malay Malaysian politicians like yourself always have a place in Malaysian politics. The other communities will vote for you. Just align yourself with the right political party.

Anonymous_1419577444: When the seas around you are stormy, it is better to stay on shore to watch the weather, than to jump into the ship.

Np: Always remember that they have engineered their victory against you. They have only taken your position so far. Please do not let them take away your dignity as a person.
