Mara is monitoring two other business subsidiaries besides Mara Inc for possible misconduct, revealed its chairperson Annuar Musa today.

However, he did not disclose the names of the subsidiaries.

"We are very concerned This is not just about Mara Inc.

"There are two more subsidiaries active in business and dealings, and the Mara council has taken proactive measures to monitor them, and not leave them to their own devices," he told a press conference in Kuala Lumpur.

He said Mara would investigate any elements of corruption or criminal breach of trust, to protect the council's integrity.

Annuar said this when asked about progress on a internal audit into Mara Inc, which he disclosed has been on going for several weeks two months prior to the expose by The Age yesterday.

He said Mara Inc has yet to furbish a report, but one of the two companies has.

"The other company has handed in a report and it has been presented to the Mara council," he added.

Annuar said Mara Inc now has seven days to furbish a written report on the matter, and the Mara council would convene in 14 days to discuss it.

As for external investigations, the Ketereh MP said he has been informally informed that there is a probe underway.

"We have instructed Mara employees to give their full cooperation," he said.
